Hi, my name is Grace Kuo, and I’m a senior at Monta Vista High School.
I’m an avid researcher/developer, an AI enthusiast, an artist and a writer!
In my free time, I love to read science fiction, watercolor Studio Ghibli train rides, and fail spicy noodle challenges. I'm passionate about making social impacts through my work: whether that's applying neural networks to patient prognosis or fundraising through my artwork. The world is a giant connect-the-dots, and I love the way both art and research powered by machine learning analyze complex connections to tell untold stories or discover ideas.
I have developed two research projects using Machine Learning: one to project the casualties and costs of an earthquake to aid resources allocation (Honorable Mention at the 2019 Synopsys Science Fair), and another that identifies patients at-risk of sepsis early to improve clinical outcomes (2nd award at the 2020 Synopsys Science Fair). I'm into graphic design, digital art, and web development. My various experiences with different projects have allowed me to cultivate coding experience in Python, R, HTML, CSS and Java!
In the future, I hope to work at the intersection of psychology, CS, and art in order to advance human-centered development of technology. Before I die, I want to fulfill Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.
